The ultrasonic welding of a toy elephant was the demo technology with which the assembly assistant "MonSiKo" was presented at the Hanover Fair. The Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) promotes this project as a technological innovation for human-technology interaction. The project was shown at the Hanover Fair in April, before that at the Arena 2036 and at the Molding Expo. The Federal Minister for Education and Research Anja Karlicek made herself a picture of MonSiKo at the Hanover Fair.

"MonSiKo" not only brings new working processes to workers in production, but also points out possible mistakes. Man and machine communicate via acoustic and light signals as well as through speech and gestures. As a result, the automated assistance system ensures stress-free, less error-prone work.

The MonSiKo project, headed by the Fraunhofer IPA, includes an automation partner of Herrmann Ultraschall, the company robomotion from Leinfelden-Echterdingen www.robomotion.de. Responsible for the programming and coordination of robotics, robomotion chose ultrasound welding as an exemplary manufacturing process – many thanks to Dr. Andreas Wolf.
